Georgia audit finds most teachers use generative AI, but concerns rise with student use
A statewide survey of more than 13,000 Georgia public school teachers found that nearly 60 percent use generative AI for teaching tasks, while reporting growing concern as student use of the technology increases, especially in high school.
The Georgia Department of Audits and Accounts surveyed all public K-12 classroom teachers in the state from March 16 to April 6, 2026, receiving 13,679 responses from teachers in 150 of 180 public school districts. The performance audit, numbered 26-03, found that teacher use of generative AI was driven mainly by time savings and improved instructional materials, while concerns about accuracy, academic dishonesty, and reduced critical thinking grew as teachers reported higher levels of student use, particularly in middle and high schools.
